Description

Upma or Uppittu is a common South Indian breakfast dish cooked as a thick porridge. The Rice Upma, which is mainly popular in Tamil Nadu and southern parts of Karnataka is referred to as Akki (Rice) Tari (Grits) Uppittu. Another variant of upma is prepared with grated coconuts instead of onions, especially on holy days, when onion is avoided

Ingredients

Rice, Vegetable Cooking Oil, Mustard, Bengal Gram Dal,  Black Gram Dal, Red Chillies, Cumin, Green Chillies, Ginger, Curry Leaves, Coriander Oil, Salt, and Sugar

Directions for use
  • Keep 2 ½ measures of water to boil along with 2-3 tsp of vegetable oil
  • Measure means a cup or container of your choice
  • When the water starts to boil, add ½ measure of grated coconut and allow it to boil
  • To this boiling mixture, add 1 measure of Adukale Akki Tari Upma mix
  • Stir until there are no lumps and the mixture is consistently thick
  • Cook for 1-2 minutes on a low flame. To this add ½ measure of grated coconut and cover it for a few minutes
  • Serve it hot with Ghee
